Toad Springs

After spending a cold winter in Wisconsin, I ended up in sunny Arkansas. There I spent three months living in a beautiful location next to the Buffalo River.

My shelter was a school bus converted to a house. I worked on several plein-air paintings during that time and amongst them was “Toad Springs”.

The surface for the painting was a rock I found in the stream that is depicted in the painting. The star was a toad I kept in short captivity, to be the model for this painting.
