The basic eight are all represented on the light side

She is guided by a long satin fabric towards a new and brighter world. The representations of the I Ching and some eastern principles make up many of the pictorial symbols on the light side.

  • The creative – Heaven
  • The receptive – Earth
  • The arousing – Thunder
  • The abysmal -Water
  • Keeping still – Mountain
  • The gentle – Wind and wood
  • The clinging – Fire
  • The joyous – Lake

The joyous lake mist gives rise to the lotus flower.  From ancient times the lotus has been a divine symbol in Asian traditions.

Most deities of Asian religions are depicted as seated on a lotus flower. In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech and mind as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. According to legend, Gautama Buddha was born with the ability to walk and lotus flowers bloomed everywhere he stepped.

In the classical written and oral literature of many Asian cultures the lotus is present in figurative form, representing elegance, beauty, perfection, purity and grace, being often used in poems and songs as an allegory for ideal feminine attributes.
